December 13th, 2007 All's not quiet on the front... Just because we've been quiet doesn't mean that we've been quiet...so to speak. We're getting our act together and should be out and about again really soon. We've been working on packaging our demo and making plans on a new full-length cd while at the same time polishing our chops. Just to prove that we haven't been resting on our laurels, here is a little medley I've put together from one of our rehearsals. It's almost like you're sitting there with us staring on in astonishment and wondering what the hell we've been smoking. Happy holidays all! Peace, |

August 9th, 2007 While the cat's away... Well, The Rev. Neb (aaron) is in Chi-town all this week so chances are the rest of us are doing absolutely nothing! Truth is, we are most likely doing anything but working on new tunes. Actually, I think Phil has gone off on a pilgrimage with a rogue band of Irish monks seeking out the perfect recipe for brewing an uber-crunchy beer worthy of praise by the most discriminating of beer snobs. Ok, well maybe they're not Irish monks, but I'm pretty sure they're Irish hooligans of some sort. Most likely they're members of the Reddletters band. Either way, I'm sure there's plenty of Inbibery, and Debauchery taking place and Phil is going to come back refreshed and ready to take on the world again. Scott, on the other hand has been hanging out in his old stomping grounds of Sand Mountain, Alabama bragging about his legendary rock and roll travel experiences to anyone who would listen. Unfortunately, the only ones who seemed interested were these two gnarly looking dudes with green teeth. Anyways, I'm sure him and his kin folk are having a good time sitting around with their washboards and jaw harps playing their tunes and sippin' the 'shine and hopefully, Scott is going to come back refreshed and ready to piss off the world again. (Scott knows we love him) Me, well I thought I'd start on my autobiography. Here's what I have so far... "So, where do i begin?...My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low-grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a fifteen-year-old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize, he would drink, he would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy...the sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. My childhood was typical...summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When I was insolent, I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds...pretty standard, really. At the age of twelve, I received my first scribe. At the age of fourteen, a Zoastrian named Vilma ritualistically shaved my testicles. There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum...it's breathtaking, I suggest you try it." Ok, so I stole that from Austin Powers. But I am kind of a cross between the the Mojo man himself and Dr. Evil. Unfortunately, I don't have any henchmen (yet). I am still, however, trying to figure out how to strap a "laser" beam to Scott's head while he's drumming. That would be cool! Hurry home Neb, we're bored! |

July 23rd 2007 First off, major thanks to everyone that came out to support the benefit for Michael Kilpatrick on July 19. MojoGoon is honored to have been a part of a great night of music for a noble cause, and we wish our dear friend Michael the best as he proceeds to beat down this disease once and for all. So I’m the new guy. And coincidentally, MojoGoon has a new sound. It would be easy to blame the new guy for that, but in truth the band was moving away from the heavier style (featured on the first CD) long before I was approached. I’ve stepped into a fully functional and successful band that is looking to reach out in new directions, and anything I can do to help that along will be my privilege. That said, the music of MojoGoon is constantly evolving. We’re kind of feeling out the process ourselves, trying out new ideas with an open mind and no hesitation. I am excited to play the material we’ve written so far and anxious to hear what we’ll write next week, or next month, or next year. And we think you’ll like it too. So stay tuned, the best is yet to come. Aaron

July 9th, 2007 Black Root Ensemble We had a BLAST opening up for Black Root Ensemble this past Saturday night. Good atmosphere, great music, fantastic sound system, what more could we ask for? (pics HERE) Black Root Ensemble is not a band that you listen to, rather they are a band that you experience. I'm here to tell you that it was quite an experience. These guys are unreal musicians and first class nice folks. They were so generous to us and it was an absolute pleasure sharing the stage with them. If they have another reunion show, we'll certainly be happy to play with them again. There will be a benefit show coming up this month... actually it's July 19th, for the drummer in Black Root Ensemble, Michael Kilpatrick. Michael has been fighting off cancer for the past several months and the local community is getting together to try to raise some funds to help him and his wife with medical bills. Michael is an outstanding musician and a dear friend and we're more than thrilled to be able to help out in this benefit. We will be playing, as well as two other local bands (Hot Soup and Sideshow) at the Crossroads in Huntsville, Al. This is on a Thursday night, but it's for a great cause. I'll post more info as it becomes available. Peace, Mike |

July 3rd, 2007 New stuff going on: Well, after a long year, it looks as if MojoGoon is about to get back in gear. If you've been away, you may have noticed a change with us. Sam has moved on for one. We've found a fantastic replacement in Aaron and after some style shifting, we've gotten ourselves in a position to begin giggin' again! New style, new look, new music, new all the way around. Personally, I think we sound better than ever. We're going to be opening for a local band called "Black Root Ensemble" this Saturday night July 7th, at the Crossroads in Huntsville. This is a reunion show for "BRE" and if the name sounds familiar, it's because they have been a legendary staple in Huntsville for years before finally calling it a day. Needless to say, we are more than thrilled to be opening for them. The Crossroads has always been in our crosshairs as the premier location in this area to play our music. They are VERY welcoming of originals bands and as such, we are most excited to be able to play a full set of our own music, without having to mix in cover tunes. This has ALWAYS been MojoGoon's goal. We appreciate "BRE" and Crossroads for giving us the opportunity. On another note, you'll be hearing some all new tunes in the very near future. We just finished cutting a 4 song demo with Michael Kilpatrick doing the engineering. Hopefully, these songs will be ready and for sale by the middle of July. We're going to be testing these and other new tunes on a live audience and if all goes well, we will be starting a new full length cd within the year. Anyways, that's enough for now. Stay tuned for more updates soon from either myself or any of the other guys who may have two cents to throw out. Peace, Mike
